About the Doctors

Howard Mitnick, DDS

Dr. Mitnick received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1983 from the Medical College of Virginia campus of Virginia Commonwealth University. He is in the practice of general dentistry. Dr. Mitnick received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland in 1976 majoring in Zoology. For many years, Dr. Mitnick has volunteered his time working in the Northern Virginia Dental Society’s reduced fee dental clinic in Bailey’s Cross Roads monthly, and periodically in the adult reduced fee clinic in Leesburg. Each year, he participates in the MOM Project – “Missions of Mercy” held annually around the country to provide no-cost dental treatment in areas where patients would receive no treatment because of inability to pay.

Heidi Herbst, DDS, FAAPD (Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry)

Dr. Herbst received her Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1981 from the Medical College of Virginia campus of Virginia Commonwealth University. She continued at MCV and in 1983 completed her post-doctoral certification in pediatric dentistry. Dr. Herbst commutes to Richmond, Virginia one day per month to teach in the dental school, supervising pediatric dental residents and students as they learn to treat their own patients. Dr. Herbst was mentioned in the August 2009 issue of Washingtonian Magazine as a preferred dentist based on the recommendations of her peers. Dr. Mitnick and Dr. Herbst have been married to each other since 1979, and have two adult children who graduated from Loudoun and Fairfax County high schools. Their oldest daughter will be graduating from dental school in 2011.

Nooshin Monajemy, DDS

Dr Nooshin Monajemy received her Pediatric Dentistry certificate from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.  She also did a fellowship in Pediatric Dentistry at  University of Maryland Dental School which focused in research in pediatric dentistry and treating children in underserved areas of Maryland. During her pediatric dentistry residency, Dr Monajemy received extensive training in treating special need children, IV/oral sedation and orthodontics.  She completed a two year continuing education in Orthodontics at United States Dental Institute.  Dr Monajemy's philosophy is prevention.  She believes that by applying preventive measures such as sealants and flouride, extensive oral hygiene and diet instruction, children will have a life time of healthy dentition. She is member of American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association and Virginia Dental Association.

Anh Tran, MD – Anesthesiologist

Dr. Tran, of Olympic Anesthesia, provides IV (intravenous) sedation for pediatric patients and special needs adolescents and adults. The medications that he uses are similar to the medications that surgeons use to extract wisdom teeth. IV sedation does not need a ventilator and a breathing tube. There is no paralysis of muscles. As of 2009, he has safely provided IV sedation for over 8,000 patients. Dr. Tran graduated with his undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh and medical school at Eastern Virginia. He has been a licensed anesthesiologist since 1995.
