2016 Holiday Food Drive
The doctors and staff at Sterling Virginia Smiles have proudly served Sterling, Ashburn, Herndon and the surrounding communities for over 30 years. We have always taken community engagement seriously, whether it means sponsoring local sports teams or donating to local schools. In that same vein, we are hoping to enrich our commitment to building a safer and stronger community with recurring events throughout the year. Our most recently implemented event is a food drive to benefit Loudoun Hunger Relief. We will be collecting non-perishable food items from December 1 through December 22. As a thank you to our patients for their participation, anyone who donates three items or more will be entered in a drawing to win an Oral-B electric toothbrush!
The Loudoun Hunger Relief, formerly known as Loudoun Interfaith Relief has been serving the needs of the hungry and food insecure in Loudoun County for 25 years. They provide well balanced, nutritious meals for the entire family three times a day, for three days a week, up to two times a month. It is the largest food bank in the County and 95 cents of every dollar goes directly to the services they provide. In addition to emergency food assistance, Loudoun Hunger Relief also provides programs tailored to the specific needs of individuals who have extenuating circumstances including homelessness and ongoing extreme food insecurity. They also partner with other organizations to provide food for family pets, opportunities for job assistance, and education on cooking and nutrition. To find out more about any of the programs listed, as well many others, check out their website here http://www.loudounhunger.org/programs/
We are very thankful for our many blessings and are looking forward to finding new ways to continue to give back the community that has been so loyal and generous to us throughout the years. If you have any suggestions or requests for other community enrichment programs in the future, contact us! And as you indulge in extra sweets and adapt to changes in your routine during the holiday season, don't forget to show some love to your teeth and gums!
