Healthy smiles are what we aim for at Sterling Virginia Smiles, and the best way to ensure this is to visit our dental practice at least twice a year for your dental exam and cleaning. These essential components of good oral health can help prevent painful dental issues further down the line.

 

During your dental exam and cleaning, we will discuss any concerns or changes in your dental and medical health. One of our doctors will give you an exam to inspect your teeth and gums for signs of tooth decay and gum disease and will perform an oral cancer screening.  We will take radiographs on a regular interval in order to ensure that our exams are thorough and your diagnoses are comprehensive. Once your exam is complete, your Sterling dentist will discuss your diagnosis and any follow-up procedures you may require. One of our dental hygienists will go over oral hygiene instructions to address any areas of home care that may be improved. They will remove plaque and tartar from your teeth in a process that helps prevent tooth decay and gum disease, professionally cleaning your teeth, which will remove stains and leave your teeth feeling smooth. We will recommend in office fluoride varnish to conclude your appointment if we feel that your cavity risk justifies it.
